Issue 3 - The Market Roadmap

This could either be the best or the worst-timed newsletter to have ever been sent in the history of newsletters but with time getting on top of me and a busy midweek Champions League schedule, it means all content plans have gone largely out of the window.

Largely out of the window but completely out of the window and although I did promise that Viktor Gyokeres was going to come under the microscope, a certain Omar Marmoush’s move to Manchester City has jumped to the top of the queue.

However, I am not going to promise Omar Marmoush content tonight, in all honesty there is going to be no number crunching at 6pm on Friday night - time of writing. I’m tired from the working week, you are tired, nobody wants to talk exchanges.

Or do they?

Actually, I do but instead of looking at currency conversion in front of goal, I think this might actually be a good opportunity to build out a content roadmap over the next few weeks.

For two reasons:

1) It gives you an idea of what is to come

2) It gives me an element of accountability in terms of delivery.

With that in mind, here is what needs to be done both behind and in front of the scenes:

The Roadmap

Rejig conversion rates after a complete round of UEFA club fixtures (and do so each time) - how will that effect the concept?

More importantly, how would this concept work for midfielders and defenders - would it be goals as the metric, is there are a transferable stat that we can use. This is going to be the long-term key but could open up plenty more avenues.

Omar Marmoush - what we expect from him at Manchester City

Viktor Gyokeres - what we expect from him at <insert club here?

How would non-European league players work in the exchange - an example would be Cristiano Ronaldo

What happens when a player moves from a high-scoring team to a low-scoring team or vice versa. Fundamentally known as ‘the Dusan Tadic rule’

Could we also compare league points in a similar format - the answer is probably yes

How would a club’s expected goals have a bearing in terms of currency

Food For Thought

That’s enough on the roadmap for now, plenty to keep me busy and hopefully plenty to keep you entertained over the course of the newsletter.

Have a great weekend

The Admin Bit

This concept is far from the finished article and this is where your feedback comes in very handy.

Any suggestions to the modelling or players you want to see put through the currency converter, please let me know in the comments or by emailing me at:

Also, if this has grabbed your interest enough to tell a friend or two about the concept - word of mouth is much better than me putting even more money in Elon Musk’s pocket.

Thanks
